Best Practices for Reels & Stories

Short-form video is one of the most powerful tools for brand growth — if you use it right. Reels and Stories let you connect fast, stay top-of-mind, and drive engagement without overproducing.

Format & Sizing

  • Resolution: 1080x1920px
  • Aspect Ratio: 9:16 (vertical only)
  • File Type: .MP4 or .MOV
  • Length:
    • Reels: Up to 90 seconds
    • Stories: 15-second segments (up to 1 minute total)
💡
Tip

Keep all key visuals (text, logos, faces) centered and away from the edges — safe zones help avoid cropping by UI elements.

What to Post

  • Behind-the-scenes clips
  • Quick wins or customer results
  • Tips, how-tos, or fast voiceovers
  • Personal moments that build trust
  • Repurposed content from other platforms

Hook Fast

The first 3 seconds matter most.
Use:

  • Movement or close-up visuals
  • Bold opening text (problem, question, or “you” language)
  • Sound that grabs attention

Text & Captions

  • Always include on-screen text — many people watch without sound
  • Use large, readable fonts
  • Include closed captions or use auto-caption tools inside Instagram/TikTok

Branding

  • Add your logo subtly (corner or end screen)
  • Use brand fonts and colors when possible
  • Keep visuals clean and consistent — match your brand style

Music & Sound

  • Use trending audio when relevant
  • Keep it aligned with your brand vibe
  • Watch volume levels — voice should be clear and not overpowered

Posting Tips

  • Post Reels to both feed and Reels tab
  • Add hashtags (3–7 max) in the caption
  • Share Stories at key times (morning, lunch, evening)
  • Use stickers (polls, questions) to drive engagement in Stories
